Janet L. Boyes, DDS
Dr. Janet Boyes is the dentist at Great Lakes Dental Center in Spirit Lake, IA. Dr. Boyes is the daughter of Randy and Cheryl Brenton and was born in Iowa City, IA. She was raised in Clear Lake, IA and graduated from Clear Lake high school. She studied chemistry and received her bachelor’s degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA. She did research and studied biology for a year at the University of Iowa before attending the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics.
While in dental school, Dr. Boyes received the William Tade Class of 1954 Student Aid Fund Scholarship, Dr. Walter Williamson Student Aid Fund Scholarship, and the McConaughy-Nonen Class of 1988 Scholarship Fund in addition to the Keith E. Thayer Fixed Prosthodontic Award and the American Equilibration Society Award. She is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. During her dental training, Dr. Boyes completed externships in the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation Geriatric and Special Needs Clinic as well as the Indian Health Services Cass Lake Hospital Dental Clinic in Cass Lake, MN. She also served patients by volunteering with the Iowa Mission of Mercy in 2012 and 2013 and traveled to Jamaica with the Christian Dental Society to treat patients in 2013. She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics in June 2014. She worked in Fort Dodge, IA serving as the dentist and dental director at the Community Health Center of Fort Dodge prior to acquiring the Great Lakes Dental Center. Dr. Boyes is married to Seth Boyes and they just had their first child,a daughter named Gwendolyn, in 2017. They reside in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Dr. Boyes is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association and the American Academy of General Dentistry. She is very excited to join the Great Lakes community and looks forward meeting new patients at the Great Lakes Dental Center.
Katie is a registered dental assistant and has been with Great Lakes Dental Center for two years. Katie and her husband, Steve, live in Estherville. In her spare time she enjoys kayaking, reading, crafting and spending time with friends and family.
